Jacqueline Heffernan, LICSW - Licensed Psychotherapist-Certified in Autism Spectrum Disorders
About Jacki:
I have been working with children and families for twenty years helping individuals and families on various issues including: crisis intervention, adjustment issues, anxiety, depression, attention and impulsivity, issues related to learning disabilities, social skills, and improving coping skills.  I also work with adults struggling with adjustments in life, anxiety, depression, or any life obstacles that would benefit from caring and empathetic guidance.
I have been working as a psychotherapist for twelve years and received my certificate in Autism Spectrum Disorders in May of 2011.  I have experience in working with children on the Autism spectrum in a school environment providing counseling and implementing supportive behavioral plans.  I also enjoyed working collaboratively with occupational therapists, speech/language therapists, teachers, and special educators to address pragmatic and sensory issues.  I also have experience working with individuals with learning disabilities and issues related to executive functioning and processing disorders.
I have been co-leading an Autism Social skills group for the past eleven years helping children develop increased social awareness and skills, and self-esteem building.  It is a supportive group that promotes education, kindness, and friendship.  I also provide psychoeducation and therapeutic support to parents to help support their children across home, school, and leisure environments.
